On the Web
series of posters, 2016

Theoretical assumptions

The series of posters presented here was the result of my interest in the impact of the spread of the Internet on humans, as well as the crises of our time, including: the cognitive crisis, the crisis of interpersonal relations, and a sense of reality that has been weakened by the excess of information. At the beginning of the Web 2.0 era, i.e. the moment when every user had the ability to create and edit content on the Web, we began to invest our thoughts and feelings in machines.

I described the images of human faces on the posters with the names of types of computer programs or devices, as well as applications found in the world of digital technologies. I combine these names with statistical data from research carried out in Poland and worldwide in the last few years.

Posters were created as a result of a combination of manual and computer techniques. The images of the characters were largely made by hand. It started with creative destructing magazines by painting them over. The choice of this type of technique is justified by the desire to search for man and his emotions.

Work created in the Poster Design Studio under the direction of prof. Mieczysław Wasilewski at the Academy of Fine Arts in Warsaw.
